Good bye and Good Luck to our Year 6 class of 2020

On Thursday the 10th of December our Year 6 students had their graduation celebration day. During the day students shared their scrapbooks and spoke about their primary school journeys, played games, danced, watched a movie on a giant inflatable screen and even had pizza for lunch! In the afternoon, we had our COVID safe graduation ceremonies. Thankfully parents/guardians were allowed to attend and watch their child receive their graduation certificates. We also had 11 scholarship recipients. It was a fantastic day and night. We are so proud of the class of 2020.

Principal’s Report

A very special thank you and congratulations to all of our school community.

I would like to thank our students, parents and friends and staff for another amazing year at Clyde PS, one that has required strength, courage, continued optimism, resilience and persistence. In the most difficult of circumstances for us all this year, we have stuck together and got though the most unusual of years.  I think we all deserve congratulations!

To our students, have a good rest over the holidays and be safe. In a year of being mostly at home and continuing your learning remotely, you have returned to school full of readiness and positivity. We look forward to you coming back to school in 2021 ready for another year of being your best.

To our parents, grandparents and friends, thank you for your support and contributions to our school, particularly the many messages of support and thanks to our staff. Your support is invaluable and we appreciate your time and enthusiasm.  We look forward to your continuing support in 2021.

To our amazing team of staff who are here every day with determination and kindness and nurture our students to be the best they can, thank you for your commitment and hard work. This year you have had to adapt your teaching to suit online learning and you have done this with incredible flexibility and positivity. Thank you. Make sure you have a good rest and come back ready for an amazing year in 2021.

Student Reports

As was the case in Semester 1, 2020, student reporting in Semester 2, 2020 will look a little different to previous years. Reports will reflect the adjustments that we have made in response to the disruption caused by coronavirus (COVID-19). Less curriculum content was covered than was planned, therefore the reports are simplified and focus on what progress has been made and what has been achieved by each child.

Our end of year student reports will be published on the Sentral Parent Portal by the end of day on Monday 14th December. Parents will receive a notification once they are ready to be viewed. If you wish to talk to your child’s teacher about their school report, please make an appointment for the afternoon of Thursday 17th December, (when teachers will be available) by emailing the school.

Goodbyes and Hellos

We are saying goodbye to Ms Bec Atkins who is moving to Drouin in 2021 and has picked up a position at Drouin PS. Premier’s Reading Challenge

The Premier’s Reading challenge was completed this year in some very unusual circumstances.  However we have had a fabulous response with approximately 390 students completing the Challenge.  This was definitely a challenge through two lockdowns and Remote Learning.  We certainly found some unique ways to complete it with teachers filming Read Alouds or reading to students over live WebEx.  Thank you to all teachers and students for your dedication to the Premier’s reading Challenge and congratulations to all the students who completed it.

Certificates will be handed out by your classroom teachers.

Family Wellbeing over the Holidays

As we reach the end of our most unusual year and head into holidays, student and family wellbeing are of the upmost importance. Some of our students have come back to school this term displaying significant mental distress and many families are displaying financial difficulties. There has also been an increase of family violence reports across the City of Casey area. Below are some supports that you can contact/connect with if you require assistance throughout the holidays. It is also beneficial to speak to your family GP
